The times they are a changing, and that is the entire point of this blog. With my old site (richardplantt.com) now out of commission I decided to start fresh. New domain, new host, and hopefully with a little time - new content. It’s been a long time coming that’s for sure, I’d say over 3 years since I’ve updated my personal site. This is something that I have been thinking about and planning for quite awhile now. In the past few years I have been playing around with a bunch of ideas on how I could improve my portfolio - What format should I use? Should I go all Flash or dig into css? How can I achieve the best user-experience for anyone that comes to this site? What do I want to accomplish with my new portfolio? After lots of thought and long nights of planning this out, I have finally taken it upon myself to go through with this “virtual” face-lift from the bottom up.
For the most part I wanted to keep my site very simple and clean. Mostly because that is all that is really needed. I didn’t want anything to flashy - much like my last site - because those sites seem to just fade-away. Instead I wanted something that will grow with me and evolve over the years. Also, I wanted to keep it simple so I could grow stronger on the technical side of web design. This place allows my to play around with code and try out new things.
Once things start to settle down a little, and I can start to see how things are shaping up I plan to start refining the site. Continuously improving things and making them better. Also, if you have any ideas or comments feel free to send me an email or leave a comment.
